Dar dar,

Indeed, this is a new and long awaiting experience for me as well, going on a holiday with no parents, only us and a couple of fun friends. I really enjoyed the trip, especially our time in Vegas and San diego. I am sure you will agree with me that San diego is definitely a nice play to settle down despite that it is fire prone.

I think this trip has allowed us to explore more about each other, living together, helping out with houseworks and cooking and eating together. I wonder what would it be like with kids. I need the cold turkey treatment too because I really miss you very much. But after one week of talking online every nite, we have to stop for a while and continue our responsibility as a student...MUG and MUG.. get more A in the coming semester.

You know that I will continue to love you, even when we talk lesser, even when we are miles apart. I just wanna say, I love u, I love u and I love u....

Back from USA trip!!!!!

I'm back and so refreshed from my 1 month holiday in the USA. To say that it was the best holiday is an understatement. I got to tour the country with my one and only, Darling. Trekking through New York, Pittsburgh, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Diego, I got to experience what it would be like living life in America. And my verdict would be this. I'm hooked. I'm hooked on America. I feel as if I've returned home. Coming back to Singapore, I feel as if I'm subjected to the cold turkey. It's the same feeling I got when I come back from my pilot stint. I badly wanted to fly again. And now, right now, I badly wanna return back to America.

I suppose that no amount of words or expression can showcase the true spectacle that is America..... I will let my trusty DSLR do much of the work for me.

..... Like I said, I just got back from America and I've got 7000 pictures to process. This could take a while.

Darling, I want to say that being with you is the most wonderful experience of my life. I want to say that I love you with all my heart and I'm devoted to bringing you the happiest days and moments that the both of us can ever have. Going on holiday with you is a glimpse towards ever more joyful experiences and I'm eager to share that with you for as long as my heart beats for you. Darling, I love you so much......

Sob sob,

I sprained my ankle on Sunday. I think the bone dislocated, but the think is, it don't feel pain when i walk, just that when i sit down, I can feel the tingling sensation and sometimes pain. The worse thing is that I am not able to do anything to it.

The CMU health service gave me bandage and medicine and they side effect of the medcine is asthma attack and swell on face. How to take? There is also no chinese physician here that I can visit.

Now I feel like I have made the wrong choice about not going back in december. It means I will only be able to attend to my ankle next July..!!! Oh my god!!!

Anyone know what to do? anyone had similar experience?

Hey guys,

Sorry I have been very busy and will be more busy for the time to come. I am taking 6 modules this term, 7 days a week not enough to use. Each mod is crammed into 7 weeks... with 5 assignments and tests. I wanna die le.....

First term is not so bad...I scored 1 A+, 1 A and 1 A-, but I really wanna do well in the second term. So it will be a while until I get back to this little blog....

You all are gonna miss me right? Hehe

Midterm week is over (Dar Dar)

Wheeeee...... Finally, my midterm week is over. Finally, I'm able to pause and take a deep relaxing breadth of fresh air....... before jumping back into the deep end of things. It's a vicious cycle, but hey, it's my life and I'm living it the best I can, each and every single day presents an opportunity for work or play.

Photography-wise, it's been a hell of a hiatus for me. My camera's been sitting patiently in the box, eagerly awaiting the next exhilarating photographic opportunity. Took these pictures from the Singapore Duck Race a while back. Suffered a terrible terrible sunburn because of it. The sacrifices of photography. All the more to appreciate this moments. Hope you'll like them. Some highlights were the performances by singers of the 881 movie soundtrack.

Haiz.... Firstly, so sorry that I've not been posting up stuff.... School has started for me and as evidenced from my long absence in here in our blog, it's been a hell of a busy month. Survival here is simple. Just do it, don't complain.

Well, actually it was more like Sony@COMEX. They seem to always have the biggest budget and this time, they totally occupied one entire floor of Suntec City. And okay, all of the pictures are of the babes and dancers...... cuz there was nothing else besides that. The babes and dancers didn't have it easy. Hour after hour, they had to parade out and do the same show routine over and over. If you had recorded the entire sequence of events and compared them, you could tell which show occurred at what time cuz they were all identical. Very mechanized and "robotized" I must say. I applaud them for their hard work and deterministic nature.

Haha. I think Darling is going to tear down this post so if you get to read this, you are one of the fortunate ones. Hahaha.

I finally moved into my new room

Hi guys..I has been close to two weeks since I return to the PIT (short form for Pittsburgh). I have been busy with moving in and buying new furnitures on top of school work. This is crazy...I am crazy enough to return just one day before school starts, with an empty room... haha...

Well I am now staying at the first level of a "petite" green house. My landlady stays above us on the second level. My house is 5 mins from school and its totally air-conditioned....

If you think that staying away from home is "Shiok"..believe me, staying alone is no fun at all, except that you can decorate your own room and return home late at night with no one nagging at you at the door. However, its not cheap at all, I spent around USD$400 plus for new furnitures, not including the decoratives that I brought from Singapore. There is no one to cook for you, wash your clothes, vacuum the floor.. and its not fun when you have tons of homework to do...

Therefore, I decided to make my room a little cosy place I can call my HOME. In the end... haha... i think it became tooo cute to be true. I have got my own lava lamp, winnie the pooh curtain, soft toy from Ikea, my elephant pillow and a little dressing table that is pink in color, yes, all pink (table, chair and mirror all pink). I also have a small studying corner in Japanese style!

I am moving in today - 06092007.. you can buy 4D with the numbers haha..I totally love this. Here are some pictures!

Hi Guys...sorry I haven't been updating this little cutie for some time! Well, the past few weeks have been busy with preps for my exemption tests, my shopping trips have been reduced to once a week as a result (sob.. sob..). Anyway, I have gotten most of the stuffs that I need to bring back to PIT and spent quite an amount on new running shoes from the Nike Warehouse sale... although cheap... but I've put a hole in my pocket as a result.

Luckily my mom decided to get me a 2nd phone - nokia 6110 by instalment and with courtesy of my sister's OLD nokia 3230 for trade-in and in conjunction with the NDP promotion. So I got this new COOL phone at $245 with a 6 months instalment...I've tried the navigation function on Singapore map...Ooooo it was fun...with voice direction telling you where to turn on the road...It also comes with short music and song extracts from a variety of albums in different languages. The camera is ok... this is one of the shots I took.......

So with a second phone for my singapore number, please feel free to sms me anytime you want...Its free to receive sms on my singtel line in US and its free for you to send to my singapore number too....!!! The shooting addict (dar dar) and two very vain girls engaged in shooting spree last friday. This was our very first Do it Yourself makeover. Although amauteurish, we managed to produce great pictures with limited equipments and settings.

Settlers Fun and Crazy Time (Dar Dar)

I personally find it difficult to comprehend sometimes, in the advent of computer technologies and the major milestones in gaming technologies, that we still find joy and soulful entertainment, playing boardgames in the company of friends.

While 777 Singaporeans tied the knot on this aupicious day (070707), we got together at Settlers Clarke Quay. Reminiscing the days gone by and also to celebrate Vincent's and Albert's birthday, we got comfy and cosy on the huge couches and sofas in Settlers. To begin with, everyone was late for one reason or another. Hahahaha. Anyways, eveyone took their time to settle down and we were particularly keen on experiencing new boardgames to tickle our funny bones. We played the classic token on the board games and card with tokens games. Can't really remember the name of the games but one particular game that I would love to play again was Taboo (Singapore edition). It's just like carades; except you can describe vocally the word on the card that been picked out from the deck, but you can't mention any of the "taboo" words depicted on the card. All before the last grain of sand slides through the hourglass. Vincent was the record holder, averaging five words per play, mostly of which Darling getting it correct to the amuzement of the rest.

All in all, a great day at Settlers! We summed it up with an ad hoc photo session at the Speakers' corner, now essentially an open patch of grass for sporting activities like frisbee and soccer. What a great way to mark 070707!

NDP Combined rehearsal 2 (Dar Dar)

Hello Hello!!!

I had a great opportunity to witness the NDP combined rehearsal with my darling on the 30th of June 2007. This year round, it is to be showcased to lucky Singaporeans at the newly constructed stage area in Marina Bay. Singapore is wonderfully efficient. What we want, we get. Or rather, what the government wants, it gets. :P

Politics aside, first impressions, I felt that the spectator stands were "small and compact" as compared to the oval-shaped stadium design that we all lovingly know as the Kallang Stadium. Atlas, it will be torn down to make way for a modernized stadium for world class events and functions. Big dreams, Singapore has. Maybe the Olympics or the World Cup in Kallang?

Back to NDP, the MCees who were present that the rehearsal introduced to us a new identity for us to be familiar with. Instead of the Kallang wave, we now have the Marina wave. Essentially, it involves the thousands of people there to...... wait...... not stand up and do a body wave, but be demure ladies and gentlemen and remain in their seats while gracefully making a wave action with your arms and hands. C'mon Singaporeans, what does it take for you to participate? Is it sooooo very paiseh to make yourself look the fool? Believe me, ditch that mentality and see how much fun you will experience for yourself.

The rehearsal was basically, a rehearsal. They didn't seem to have the full attendance of participants on that day so instead, they were represented with sign boards instead. The audience laughed heartily at such a sight. Kinda enjoyable, really.

As the rehearsal wore on, we had the usual spectacles. The red lions making their jumps, twice...... the Singapore flag fly-past...F16 after-burners.. plus a few new additions. Commandos rappelling off the Shears bridge, the Chinook deploying troops into the Marina Bay water front right in front of Esplanade, Apaches circling the water front with the city skyline in the background and all of its grandeur. And for the first time, the Naval has a chance to showcase their superiority. No, a submarine didn't surface nor did a warship berth in the area. Police speedboats and Naval counter-terrorist warships did their stuff to the amazement of the audience. All in all, a supreme show of power and grace from our beloved SAF.

Well, what can I say, this year's NDP will definitely live up to the expectations of the people and Singapore. One thing's for sure, I'll be back for the fireworks display. Rehearsal only, can't have fireworks right?

As of 30 April 2007, 1100hrs, I hereby officially declare this day the day of my freedom!!!!!!!!!! WOHOOOOO!!!!!!! Sweet sweet sweet release from the clutches of books, sleepless nights, zombie eyes, the "mugger's" lifestyle and exam stress!!!!! Wah!!!!!!!!! WAH!!!!! Kk, stay calm, stay coool....

Firstly, i would like to say that i'm sorry for not updating this blog of ours. Should you think that this blog has suddenly not been current to the events in my life, yes, you were right but it was only cuz of the damn exams. Now that I've been through hell and back, I would like to share the moments that have transpired in the past month or so.

Well, this is me at the beginning. As you can see, I still haven't grown panda eyes and i still can manage a weak smile after going through tons of lecture material and readings. The NUS library is quite a conducive place for studying but the journey back home drains away about an hour of my precious adolescence.

What's a mugger to do without his edible companions? Cola sweets, great for kids and grown ups. It has strange powers of attraction though. A stray scent of it will cause other muggers to come scurrying towards the source. When encountering such situations, fend off other muggers with your pen and highlighter or your pent up frustrations from your time-wasting revisions.

Hahaha, I just couldn't help myself. A funny shot. Goodness, I was trying hard to stifle my laughter. Seems many a student call the library their sanctuary. Sleep soundly, yeah!

In the thick of it all, I gave up making the arduous journey to NUS every single morning. Thank goodness I found another studying nirvana closer to home. SMU!!!!! Yes yes, got to thanks my friends, Eugene and Melvin for their kindness and hospitality. The change in environment was great, I was starting to lose my concentration and spirit for revision. Sometimes, you can only go so far alone, but with friends, they'll take you further than you can ever imagine.

A healthy cup of tea and coffee to power up the mind for the vast volumes of knowledge. Go the distance with a cuppa from Mr Tea, your tea and beverage specialist.

Hmmmm, never knew that i tilted my head so much when I'm studying. Thanks Eugene for the shot. I've discover the reason why my neck aches so much.

Advertisements in the MRT are getting more and more creative and attention seeking. I kinda like this one. If you run out of advertising place, just create it yourself. But sorry Lipton, I prefer Japanese Green Tea.

A beautiful night shot from one of the group study rooms in SMU Economics and Social Science faculty. The view from the study room is stunning at dusk and at night, the lights just mesmerizes you. Absolutely fantastic.

This is a little sad, but I turned 23 on the 25th of April 2007. And i guess you've guessed it by now, I spent it at SMU. Well, it wasn't that bad. Darling, thanks for your wonderful wonderful surprise. The cakes from Gelare were absolutely delicious. Wanna thank Karway and Dione who were in cahoots with Darling. Hi guys! Sorry for taking such a long time to update my blog. I was having term tests and project deadlines for the last 2 weeks and spent 4 days is New York for the start of my spring break.

Good News to share: "I got into the masters programmmmeeeeee"

Bad News to share: " I did badly for my politics test - 30% test"

Anyway.. I had a great time in New York, staying at Annie mei mei's place at Flushing, where all the Chinese people are (when you are there, you think you are in China). Also went to Chinatown that resembles HongKong. Best place is Manhattan... Fifth Avenue where all the shops are there, ranging to high class ones like COACH, LV, DIOR to popular ones like MACY, TAKASHIMAYA, M&Ms, DISNEY and etc...Then i went to this place call Woodsberry.. You wont believe it ... 220 outlet stores (factory outlet) where you get cheap branded stuff like Levis, DKNY, COACH, GUESS and etc. I spent 5 hours and managed to walk only 5 stores,.. spent 250 USD and bought 6 fossil watches, Levis.. shopping madness...

I also got Malu episode. When my friend told me that we cant visit statue of liberty, I asked her "Huh, Liberty in New York meh?" So sua gu!!

School starting tomorrow..I will not be able to update blog as frequently le, however i uploaded 200 photos from the New York trip. Should be able to last for a month hahhahahaha...

Anyone wanna go New York must tell me!!!! I am definitely going again!!

Wooooohooo!!!!!!!!! it's been a hell of a weekend!!!! Definitely enjoyed myself to the max!!!! I guess i've discovered a new hobby that i can be really passionate about. Photography!!!!!!! Got myself a second hand Canon 350D with a kit lens and a 70 - 300mm telephoto. Still quite a newbie as compared to Qingkai and Eugene but nonetheless, i'm always and willing to learn something new and exciting! Got a great opportunity to shoot this weekend. The IT show! and with the IT show come the babes and showgirls! In addition, we had the SMU open house too!!! hahaha! (Darling, please don't kill me but it was really fun to be able to feel the rush of it all!!!!)

Photography connects people. I got to know this wonderfully friendly Finnish guy by the name of Pasi. He's just here for 2 months and has also has a great passion for photography. He shared with us his experiences in his native country and other interesting views on technology, culture and people in general. Learned a lot from him!!!

Oooopsss. i've not been faithful to this little blog of ours! Sorry. It's been a crazy 3 weeks since the start of CNY. Project deadline to meet, programming problems to solve, revision for mid term tests and in the middle of all these things, i still have to do tutorials and lectures. Well, i decided to try out a new strategy to defend myself and not be defeated. My strategy: skip school altogether! It's quite the opposite of what you should do in times like this. But surprisingly, it has worked quite well for me. I've got all the time to do my own self study, revise at my own pace and basically focus on only one task and one task alone. The only price to pay: play catch with the weeks of tutorials and lectures that you've missed. Not very difficult, just need to do it! It's finally come to the end of 3 of my mid term tests, i still have one more to go but that's in April. But for now, celebrate and slack lorz!!!!!! Gonna get a little sun-kissed at the pool to relax. My darling's been burning the midnight oil for her tests. Darling, i wish i am with you to help you out. Study hard okay? Miss you lots! Oh, go enjoy yourself in New York city. Remember to take photos of the very very famous Naked Cowboy! He shouldn't be difficult to find. Just ask the friendly people there!

A Chill Experience at FLO (Dar Dar)

Wow! Just got back from a wonderful party experience with Belle and Liza. Hahha! Never ever knew that a chill bar (FLO @ ONE fullerton) could be as entertaining as the rest of my partying experience. Thanks Belle and Liza for such a great experience! It was the first time that i ever had martinis and i gulped down 6 of them! They were really tasty and in a word, lovely! Hahaha! The live band provided adequate emotional and soothing songs for us to drown away all our sorrows and hope for better times ahead. Belle, Liza and I all have our better halves overseas so we are all lonely and miss our loved ones here in Singapore. I love you darling! Hope to see you soon in May! Muack!

Oh and I received presents too!! One Fun Dip from Annie (ABT- American Born Taiwanese, haha), the Symphony chocolate bar is from Vivian and the Hershey's milk chocolate bar is from Jiaqi..... Yawn... I feel so sleepy after the whole day of exam and shopping at Waterfront.... I slept only for 3 hours last nite...all thanks to the American Politics exam. Spent 3 days mugging and it lasted for 1 hour, asking simple definition questions.... I feel like knocking myself at the wall.

Got back my International Management Case 1 assigment, got 37/40...same as Huang Liang. But I think I will do worse for the next one (which I spent 5 hours on). Regretting now....

Meetings meetings and meetings is what I do at CMU for my FYP project...madness, we are meeting 4 times a week, burning the whole weekend... Life is so miserable here. Worse than in Singapore!!!

I received Valentines Day present from dar dar, although its one week early... I just love them!! Skimpy night gown and a pair of more decent night wear from the FAMOUS Victoria Secret. And on top of that... I went to get more stuffs from Victoria Secret today..hahaha... spent alot of money... Well, the increment in wages isn't that substantial but it's a sign that employers are more willing to fork out more to retain talent like poly grads in their workforce. Hmmm, but according to the report, the real winners are the optometrists, earning $3000 a month, which is about the top 2% of the total entire pie. As extracted from the report:

Hey there, oh man, it's really been a great while since my last post. Feeling guilty about it, but recently there's nothing much happening around. Really!!! It can be sooooo boring here. Just SOOO BORED!!! So, i've just been taking random pictures here and there to share it with you guys. Just a few thoughts and comments about them. Should be interesting i guess. Here goes!

Hmmmm... here we see the overbearing sight of the cityscape at Tanjong Pagar MRT station. Looking at this jolts me back into reality that someday, maybe, i'll be in the something-level at something-dept doing something-work for someone. It's a sad reality i feel. What to do, it's a dog-eat-dog world. Hoping to steer clear of such a boring path. Carving out my own path to self-employed success and financial freedoms sounds much more promising and fun.

Here's a little money making scheme that i happened to chance upon during my daily commute in the MRT> It seems that you can invest your hard-earned monies on luxury items like exclusive timepieces, jewellery and even exotic cars. I just wonder how can this be? What investment tool or concept or financial formula are they using to grow such a fund? Seems to be a very sustainable prospect. Come to think of it, investing in the companies that make Ferraris and Lamborginis is a viable in terms of investment diversification. A shareholder in one of the greatest supercars of the century! But i just wonder if you invest in the fund, would you get a chance to drive the Lamborgini in the picture? I guess it's just wishful thinking. Easy money, never heard of it, never will have.

YEah... Finally I have gotten rid of 15-211.. The killer JAVA course. I love my advisor, he understands me and gave me Telecommunications and Networking instead.

I spent my weekend with Wei and KK.. missing her now! We went to the CHEESECAKE FACTORY... they have the widest variety of cheesecake that I have ever seen, bought a GODIVA chocolate cheesecake (I know dar dar will be soooo envious).

We went shopping at Forever 21 and outfitter girls...things are cheaper here for Forever 21 and the fashion is the same as Singapore...bought a green top at 7 USD...On sale. Puma was on sale too.. but i too ngiaow, never buy!!! sob sob.

The next day we went to Target and Strip district to get supplies for the next 2 weeks. Salmon was expensive and can u imagine.. hha.. I managed to get Mee Tai Bak and Kok Kok hehehhe my favourite. They also have Mee sua and Pi Dan....hahahaha bought like crazy. Spent like 200 USD ... heart pain ah !!!

Yesterday night there was a fire at my apartment, I stay at level 3 and the fire was at level 2... we thought it is a false alarm. All thanks to Huang Liang.. he went to check... Brave!! Guess what I did?? I went straight to ge my jacket, passport, wear my boots (abit slow) and pulled my laptop and the ADADTOR.. took abt 10 plus minutes to get out of the house. KK told me that if the fire is bigger, I have already been cremated le.. should not bother to get my laptop next time!!! ok KK, I will remember.

We had eat out yesterday too. After the evacuation, went back to make dumpling soup!! By it was not up to normal standard..Sad!!

I hate the mundane daily commute to school!!! It just isn't the right way to start the morning. You wake up early, squeeze on the damn bus, hunt about the MRT for a nice seat, hope that the person who seats next to you isn't one of the following:

a morning sneezer. constantly and incessantly sneezing and blowing his nose to obilivion. And you have no chioce but to breathe the air he outputs.
the leaning sleeper. Goes into deep hibernation mode but doesn't have any bodily control functions and starts to sway left and right, disturbing the passengers left to right. He gets his rest, we don't.
The mobile phone commuter. Doesn't stop conversing on the mobile phone till he gets to his destination. In the tunnel, conversations become louder due to the weak reception and increasing background noise

Don't mean to offend anyone or shoot anyone down with my comments. Just wanna send out a message: Please do be kind and considerate to other passengers. You bought a ride on the MRT. It doesn't mean you bought the entire MRT carriage.

Hope tomorrow brings a better more pleasant journey to school.

It’s been a long time since I last partied and drank booze. Well, frankly, I didn’t miss much really. It’s just the friends that you hang out with that matter. Haha. Got my clubbing gear on and got down to St James Power Station. It’s just new joint that launched into Singapore clubbing arena quite recently and that’s about as much as I know about the club. The club itself is tiny compared to the places I used to frequent. The event held at the club was the NUS bash so I was expecting to see the prettiest faces at NUS. Sadly, the night brought in just a few roses with thorns (boyfriends in tow). Not a great night overall but still got a bit high.

A Scary and Funny nite out!! (darling)

Tonite, I experienced both the most scary and funniest stuffs in Pittsburgh. In search for the popular T-mobile dealers, we decided to check on the website and found that there is one downtown at the central business district. So Huang Liang and I went to take bus 71 for a 20 mins trip there. We reached there at about 7 plus pm... to my horror, it was so dark and almost all the shops were closed as if its 1 or 2 am in Singapore's CBD area. It was scary when we stopped an take picture with this very cute window display and a bunch of black ppl was talking about us when we walk pass them. Not very friendly.

We then walked up and down the street in search for the shop that is suppose to close at 10pm. At the brink of giving up... I almost walked pass it without noticing, but managed to notice at the end... but it was closed!!! Bad luck... so we decided to have dinner at the only Macdonald I have seen so far, in Pittsburgh.

So we went in, I started my search for the cheapest meal...and guess what, the counter staff (black guy) tried to hide his laughter when i ordered a nuggets happy meal. As if its not the worst, he asked me for my sauce preference and I answered "Chilli sauce please" without thinking... arghhh..he laughed harder this time round. Then, he forgot to give me my toy, so i asked Huang Liang to get it for me while i run away... but i could hear more laughter..... Why cant I order HAPPY MEAL in US???? I like the Toy Mah!!! haaa but i was damn funny... I actually enjoyed it.

well, but not the nite walks at the area... really freaked me out!!! Sweat!!

My first Snowwwww (darling)

Finally, I get see the my first snow in Pittsburgh yesterday... It was right there early in the morning when I woke up. Although not alot, but enough to cover the top of the trees and bushes. A beautiful morning.

Not to spoil everyone's image of snow, but i can get irritating at times when it does not snow straight from the sky.. get what I mean? haha, I mean it comes on to you diagonally as the wind blows and they get into the way of your eyes, nose and mouth as you speak..abit irritating. Look at the next picture and you will see why.

The sun's up! I guess. I can't tell for sure though. Constantly being indoors and only receive news that the rain's gonna continue for the week makes me a very lousy weatherman. Anyways, met up with Eugene Mark (back from Australia studies) and Jinfa. Haha. Something's never change. Jinfa, always the jovial one. Unemployed for now. But i'm sure that he'll find something soon. He's pretty resourceful. A good getter, a family man. His son is about 9 months now, can't walk about yet but he's able to stand as i'm told. Eugene..... hahaha, beer is water, water is just water. Australia university culture rocks. Haha. Beer, Booze for every and any occasion. Eugene's still the same. Doing polictical science and maybe law. I wonder what sort of career would that lead to. A big time lawyer in the future? Is that enough to be a practicing lawyer? Hmmmm... Well, it's always great to meet with old friends. Sharing experiences. Chatting about the old times. Hope to do it again. Only thing that i regret is not taking a picture with them. DAMNIT!

I skipped a lecture today. Worth it i would say. Opportunity cost of your time spent in lecture is time spent with friends. Took snapshots of Qingkai, Soonwen and Patrick (in the background). Soonwen's nose is a fireman hose. If you can just turn it off for it one second, you can hear a pin drop in the lecture hall. Hahaha! Kidding!!!

The long wait....for 59U !!!

I had a disappointed experience with the pittsburgh bus system on Friday afternoon. That is when i miss the sms bus in Singapore that has a short interval of 15 mins per bus. 59U is the bus that all cmu students will take, in order to travel to Waterfront - a place where we can find target shop, giant eagle (supermarket) and a number of good restaurants.

The journey to Waterfront is a long 30mins, as if not worse enough, 59U comes in interval of 30 mins. So travelling to Waterfront would be at least an hour as you would think. But you are wrong...on Friday, the 2 buses went passed us without stopping. We waited for more than 1 and a half hour for nothing!!!!! Can you believe it???

Well we are not stupid afterall. While waiting, we took some pictures:

Fortunately, we asked 2 china guys and they suggested that we travel to squirrel hill instead where they have another Giant Eagle. While that nite, I spent about a total of 120 USD.... arghh... scary.!!!!

Last night, our advisors brought us to "The Quiet Storm" an all vegetarian restuarant.

A nice experience, but the food does not really suit my preference: We took a picture with Randy and wife, and Steve. It just look like those cafe in america TV series....haaa finally able to see it for my own eyes.. this is so fun!!

Then, today we finally went to Waterfront finally and I spent close to another 100USD. I feel so broke now!!! sob...I bought electric kettles, fork and spoon...etc...and I finally found my boots..they have my size (will update the picture of it in my next posting) !!! yeah !!!! Then be carried all the bags up and back by bus:

Haiz, the study of economics states that the choices that we make entails the sacrifice of another. So, what the next best alternative (opportunity cost) for leaving Singapore to be in Pittsburgh. It's family, relatives and friends. I suppose it'll be hard to adapt to the new way of life for my darling. But i know for certain she's strong and sturdy through this new chapter in life. But hey, it's sort of like a dream come true for me. I've always thought about what it would be like to have a girlfriend in another country, (and NOOOO, i'm not thinking about having an affair with another), but just wondered about the long distance relationships.

Movies always seems to glorify long distance romances and are box office smash hits! haha. Hey, could we make a movie out of this? Albeit, a little boring. hahaha! Gotta spice it up, ya? Kidding! Anyway, in the movies, the guy in the long distance relationship will eventually make the trip to the country where the girl is residing and the rest, as they say, is the love story of the moment. It'll be absolutely wonderful to visit her in the USA, it's always been my fantasy all my life to visit the free country. December maybe? Always wanted a holiday with my darling.

After 23 hours of living in the plane... I am getting dizzy and stuffy. Finally, I am here. Its kinda cold abt 7 degree celscius.... I miss home.. much more than before.

GRE exam for her. A total nightmare!!! (dar dar)

The day of reckoning has finally arrived for my darling. The event that forced her to sacrifice her holidays and mug for something that would seem impossible to the typical adult. The dreadful GRE exam, consisting of the english language and basic mathematics problem solving. In typical fashion, every primary to secondary school student should be adept to such tests as it is as commonplace to them as having recess and PE. To us young adults, if we have navigated using the proper path through life and adopted Life Long Learning in English and Maths, then the GRE is a piece of cheese cake. Most unfortunately, we fell off that path and went on another.

The GRE test venue: Burlington Square.

Shirley was all business on the day of the GRE. Hard to imagine that you will be enduring English structured questions and Mathematics problems throughout a 4 hour period of time. OH MY GOSH! I myself attempted the SATs, which is sort of similar to the GRE ( i think ), and found myself asking questions like, "Who the hell uses English words of such sophisticated nature?"...... "Why do people even bother?"

Fortunately, my darling survived the ordeal and just managed a decent scoring despite having only less than a month's time for revision. This will be one of the last hurdles for her before she heads off to USA. Gonna miss her terribly. Miss you already.

Singapore's largest ceiling fan and a $1.5 million dollar diamond Christmas tree (Dar Dar)

Wow!!!! It's amazing what you can find while you are rambling about Bugis while waiting for a CPU to be assembled at Slim Lim Square. I was summoned by my cousin to build a new CPU for the new year. He has a history of burning out CPU's with his incessant gaming habits. Hopefully, this new CPU would be able to withstand his path of destruction and obsessive gaming. Got quite a high rig assembled. Intel Core 2 Duo with GigaByte 965 MainBoard 1024 DDR2RAM NVdia 7600GT graphics card coupled with a whopping 320GB SATA HDD. To my dear cousin, the highlight of the day would be his new toy for the new year of 2007. For me, it was these two things that captured my attention.

As i said, i was rambling about in Bugis Village, trying to do some decent window shopping amongst the hores of constantly streaming people when to my utter amazement, i saw this huge ceiling fan above me. I just stood there for a few seconds to admire the god of all ceiling fans before a wave of people swept me off my stationary position and carried me off. However, in the seconds that i was stationary, i managed to whip out my N80 to capture this shot of it. WOW!!!

I dub thee, "Singapore largest ceiling fan". Please continue spinning to receive such an honorary title.

There was another star attraction at Bugis too. It was the magical diamond encrusted Christmas tree on proud display at Bugis Junction. I guess it's sort of an annual marketing gimmick devised by the local jewelleries in Singapore to show off their wares to the public. However, it was beautiful and noteworthy enough for me to mention it tonight in my blog. Hahaha. So, without further ado, i give you, the $1.5 million dollar Christmas tree!!! The angels in heaven must be missing one of their's this Christmas. Simply angelic!

Ahhh... the passing of another day of the holiday tells me that the beginning of a new semester is draws near. Nonetheless, i have not regretted the way that i've spent my holidays, and that i've devoted my personal time to the one that i love the most on this very Earth and perhaps the entire Universe. In my wildest fantasies, i've often dreamt of escaping the real world, to a world devoid of all "negativeness", to a place where the mind can roam free and the body be at ease. Alas, should we try to live out such a fantasy, it will most definitely set us on the path of destruction and ruin. But i do suppose that we can live out a bit of such a fantasy everyday in our lives. Seeking that escape. To reach nirvana. To be at peace.

Oh my Darling, she's really been busier than a queen bee!!! Buzzing around all sorts of places, Suntec City and shopping malls. Ha, to the uninititated, you might think that she's just the stereotypical shop-a-holic during the holiday season. No, you couldn't be more wrong than wrong! She's got a thousand and one things to settle before heading for USA. The craziest thing would be luggage selection! It's so frustrating. Why can't all the airlines agree to one standard luggage dimension policy? Better still, why don't they manufacture luggages for us if they wanna uphold their "security policies in the face of terror"? Haiz, it's better to play safe in the real world. Just got to conform to whatever information that we have. Luggage is EX! Easily $400 on it. Just hope they serve their purpose.

On a lighter note, my darling did a surprise visit. Well, no exactly surprise. She forgot her keys again so got locked out. Ha, the photos describe what happened in my room that night. (OH, grow up, don't be so dirty minded!! My whole family was around. ) :-)

Stock Challenge Seminar at SMU.. raining again!!!

It really seems that the heavens have a leaky hose or someone up there forgot to turn off the water facet. It's be raining incessantly since the week began. It's the kind of rain that makes you wanna snuggle up in bed with that special someone for the whole morning. It's the kind of rain that gives you that perfect excuse to be lazy and not do anything for the day. Well, it's just the thing that i couldn't do today. Scheduled this morning was the last of the series of seminars for us to gain insight into the wonderful world of stock market investing. Yes, there is a certain amount of risk to it but i find myself drawn to it. As always, got to play it safe otherwise it'll burn your fingers. And oh, my Darling was there to show support!!! Thank you darling, you always make me feel like a hero in everything i do. Love you! SMU is really posh indeed. They've got a swimming pool in the admin block for functions like pool side buffet or events. Wow! Guests would definitely be smittened by SMU. Tomorrow, the stock challenge begins. I'll try my best to build a good portfolio. It'll be a good testing ground for a green horn like me.

The rain continued on and on through the day, relentlessly drenching every single unprotected surface it can touch. It causes people to do out-of-the-ordinary things. Things like this. It drove me to think that i was a koala bear. Luckily, i snapped out of it when my blackhead came out.

I guess my Darling thought it would be romantic if we could take a drive in this weather. That was exactly what we did but with a different purpose. Had to ferry parents to Hougang to get treatment for my darling's mother. Well, what the heck, it'll be romantic anyway. Haha. Got this silly picture to show for it too. Haha. Today is suppose to be my sista's 20th birthday.. but we spent the rainy day slacking at home, rotting and doing nothing but watching TV and playing on our own computer and kenneth sleeping on my bed as usual...haha...but then, we had a big early birthday celebration yesterday. It was a busy and rainy day like now, but with my best friends Desmond, Kenichi, dar dar Kenneth and sis's bf. All my marias, old and new gathered at my house to help out with the celebration that started at 4.30pm. Cake arrived at 5pm! Dar dar, Desmond and I gave my sister a red crumpler bag!! Although tired, seeing that smile on her face, i feel that everything is worth it, the whole family is happy, good friends gather together, thats more than what I can ask of~!!! Sob... i hope i can be around for her 21st bday!!

Icube Investment Seminar Series (NUS)

Attended the second series of seminars at NUS. Technical analysis of stocks and counters were covered and briefed by a representive from iOCBC. An absolute eye-opening experience. Topic covered included price behaviour, price consolidation, bullish and bearish breaks, support and resistance levels, candlestick analysis, price gaps and moving averages. Definitely very valuable insight to stocks analysis that i'd wouldn't be able to get elsewhere. Genting International price finished at $0.50 today. Great news. Definitely means there's buyer confidence. Let's see if there'll be a bullish break in future. Stay tuned and be informed.

AHHHH!!!! Sentosa! Yes, i'm ready for you but you are not ready to welcome me. Why the hell of all days in the year must it be raining when i go Sentosa for volleyball? Damnit. A promise to meet is a promise indeed. Can't let DunXiang down. Got to show up.

Wow. What a turn-up indeed. In the end, there was only KaiShian, Raymond, DX and me. Dude, it's a crime to go Sentosa as group of four. Damnit. Since we're here already, let's just make the best of it.

Even more bad news. Our favourite spot on Silso beach was stripped off its volleyball courts. The ones available were at the other end of the beach. Don't tell me that the whole of Sentosa has now only two volleyball courts? Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic.

We continued with our activities as planned but the rain wouldn't let up. Spoilt moods for all and drenched to the bone, we sadly headed home. Gonna get revenge next visit. And a tan too.

Friday, Meet Orientation Pals Day!!! Vivocity dinner.

OOOOOO... it's Friday!! Hahaha. TGIF!!! Well, got to hang out with my beloved friends from NUS FOC. Hahaha!! It's great to hang out with the gang. Constantly full of great ideas and even more lots of crap!!! There was Robbi, QingKai, Yan Jun, Kai Xiang, Selwyn, Kendrew and Jonna. A simple dinner was in order and we opted for Baker's Inn due to certain economic constraints. Note: if you are looking for something budget budget yet with a little bit of class, i'm sorry... Vivocity is not the place to go for the budget conscious. Kendrew, ha, as usual, full of wit and humour. Funny and witty character. Learnt that Yanjun's going off with boyfriend in tow to USA for SEP. Wah, how did they land such an opportunity. Got to get tips from them when they return. I've got to get to USA. My darling is there. Gonna be lovesick soon.

Ended the evening with a stroll through the esplanade at Vivocity. Took great pictures to immoralize the memories of the evening in digital format. Definitely have to hang out sometime soon.

Today's the day!! Crumpler Collection day!!! Hahhaa!! Wohoo!!! Excited as a kid at Christmas, hovering around the Christmas tree, eager to tear open the presents. Got myself and my brother Western Lawn and Barney Russell, at super discount price. Crumpler made a pricing mistake on its website, a classic Singtel example. Yeah yeah! Priced its bags in SGD instead of USD. THanks a lot Hardwarezone!! The power of information and word of mouth is unmatched. But, there was a small hiccup. Bloody, they didn't tell me they didn't have a purple Barney Russell. Got red instead. Naturally got red-faced too. Rejected the order flat. In amidst of complaining to Eric of Crumpler. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PURPLE STOCKS!!!!

Blew off some steam with my darling. She was having headaches. Dunno why she feeling so crappy these days. The day was almost ending in ruins when we stumbled upon a miracle food. Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab in bitesize pieces from Istean Supermarket!!! Never seen restaurants serve these before. Miracle food cause she instantly perked up after a few bites of it. I swear by it now. Got myself a top from TOPMAN. Feeling brokebut happy. Happy crabby!

STOCK challenge! Wohoo! Invest Invest Invest!

Kenneth entry: Got to participate in the IOCBC stock challenge today. Was estatic about it coz I can play with stocks without getting really burnt!! Wahhahaha. Prize money worth $7000. Can’t wait to buy the stocks and built a good portfolio. Soon Wen, QingKai, Eugene, Jason and Patrick participated too. Sporting of them too. At least I got to see the university I almost chose, NTU. Wah, the university so far away, it seems I can go to JB with the time taken to get to school. The next seminars will be at NUS and SMU on monday and tuesday. Minister Lim Swee Say was there to grace the event. Haha. Funny man. Funny speech. Got burned in the stock exchange and stayed away from it. So why advocate stock marketing playing? One things for certain, no one can outsmart Mr Market all the time, but for the times that we can, just remember to stay within your limits.

Hehehe!!! Happy Anniversary Darling!!!! It was really great to spend the day with you. Went to Vivocity again!!! Well, i went to Vivocity to get Mother Garden Seal collection (it's really really cute!!). Got the big big one and a small small one. You got mad when i didn't get the big big one in a vaccum pack small enough to fit in the luggage. I'm sorry darling. I thought it was small enough. HONEST MISTAKE! Yes, it wasn't really the perfect kinda anniversary that you would have expected. Perhaps i'm a little on the rusty side of things. But nonetheless, today is really significant as it will be our last anniversary together in Singapore. I hate to say that! Sounds really bad and like the end of the world kind of thing. But i love my darling. Truly, madly and deeply. Yes, soemtimes i make you mad, but most of the times i make you laugh cuz of how silly i can get at times! Hahaha!! Really gonna miss you. Love you always.
